We are a group of people concerned about the local food economy in Boone County. We originally came together as the "food committee" of the Iowans Fit For Life, which concentrated on making people's lives healthier through the foods they are eating and increasing physical activity. Our task as a committee was to promote local foods and get people to eat fresher, locally grown products.
We decided that a brochure listing local producers of meat, dairy, produce, etc. would be a good way to start. This would give people in our community a reference to find the local foods. Our goal is to connect eaters and producers. After working on the brochure we realized that there would be additions in the future, so we decided to start a website that could be kept current.

If you are an eater who would like to support your local economy & environment and eat healthier, please contact our producers to support them. Whether you are an eater or a producer, we would love to have you join our group and share your ideas on how we can continue this effort.
